We are real and human.
Born and raised in the Finger Lakes of Central New York, a part of Upstate New York, and one of the best parts of the great United States of America if you ask the writer.
Inspiration for Upstate Vintage and iMetaModern Artist includes strong influence from the Guilded Age and the Adirondack Great Camp era when all the OG dudes with money came "upstate" from "The City" (also known as New York City) to escape into nature and built their great camps utilizing the natural elements of New York's lucious and lucritive landscapes.
The Upstate Spirit (if that's a thing) through those years and into present required physical work in the natural elements, creating something new and innovative out of what was and is available among and around us. Before that was Turtle Island, the Native American name for the land, then later my own Grandma Turtle paving unique paths through a non-normative yet idillyc American success story. There is much to explore throughout this place we call home throughout the eras before Taylor Swift ever even graced a single airwave.
We are products of the place and time in which we were born, but we can also learn from what has been, remix, and innovate into something not quite new, but fresh with a rebirth into new purpose and intent.
Continuing in time and influence, the Tri-Five Era has captured our hearts, minds, and affairs. This is our specialty. 1955, 1956, 1957 idealic American excellence with a metamodern twist. What's old comes back to life with new innovation and intention. A resto-mod lifestyle continuing in the ingenuity of this nostalgic era ripe with promise and potential.
Things got really good in the 80's and 90's. Anything was possible and the radical became commonplace. The MTV era. Graffiti, flash, video killing the radio star. A fiercely influential time in history and the end of an analog era of youth experience and culture at large.
Y2K and the dawn of the interwebs (internet and mobile) introduced so many connections. Niche interests, hidden personas, dial up internet and chat room slang.
Later work nods to one or more of these eras, and more is available to explore in the site. This page has more text than the average reader will ever read in such a monotone text style, but you are still reading, so something must have captured your attention. Explore as you see fit. I'm glad you stuck around to know more, and I'm glad you are here. -FP97
